Yousaf Adil shah founded the Bijapur sultanante in 1490 AD on the death of his patron khwaja Mahmud Gawan .This lover of art and literature was followed by eight sultans , and all the nine sultans ruled for about two centuries .In 1686 AD Aurangazeb conquered the sultanate and annexed it to his dominians .
